The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a steady gas supply to neighboring countries, including Togo, Benin, and Ghana. This move aims to tackle energy poverty and promote economic prosperity in the West African sub-region.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperike Ekpo, emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration prioritizes gas supply within the West African sub-region. Ekpo noted that significant strides have been made in advancing the gas sector, including developing gas infrastructure, reducing gas flaring, and increasing gas availability for both exports and domestic consumption.
The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) will play a crucial role in ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted gas supply from Nigeria to regional consumers. Ekpo expressed appreciation to WAPCo’s outgoing Managing Director, Michelle Burkett, for her visionary leadership and pledge support for the new Managing Director, Abiodu Bodunrin.
