Lagos-born Tunji Disu, 59, has been appointed as the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) by President Bola Tinubu, succeeding Kayode Egbetokun.
With over three decades of service, Disu is a seasoned police officer with a strong background in crime control, intelligence, and strategic policing. He holds a degree in English Education from Lagos State University (LASU) and master’s degrees in Public Administration and Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology.
Disu’s impressive career includes serving as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, as well as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos. He has also led key units such as the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
As IGP, Disu is expected to continue the reform efforts and enhance investigative capacity within the Nigeria Police Force.
