LATEST: US Cracks Down on Immigration: Over 100,000 Visas Revoked, Including Thousands of Students Permits

The United States has revoked over 100,000 visas, including 8,000 student visas and 2,500 specialized visas, as part of a broader immigration enforcement drive under President Donald Trump’s administration. The State Department cited encounters with US law enforcement for criminal activity as the reason for the revocations.

The majority of visa cancellations involved business and tourist travelers who overstayed their visas. Other revocations were linked to arrests or charges related to drunk driving, assault, theft, child abuse, fraud, and other offenses. Nearly 500 student visas were revoked due to drug possession and distribution cases.

This move is part of the Trump administration’s aggressive overhaul of the US immigration system, which includes stricter standards for visa issuance and increased deportations. The State Department has vowed to continue deporting individuals who pose a threat to American safety.

The visa revocations have sparked concerns among international students and universities, with some arguing that the measures are too harsh and lack transparency. The US government has been criticized for not providing clear reasons for the revocations, leaving many in uncertainty.
