LATEST NEWS: US-based Nigerian CEO Arrested for $7m Fraud Scheme

Cashmir Chinedu Luke, a 66-year-old US-based Nigerian CEO, was arrested at San Francisco International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Nigeria. Luke, founder and sole owner of Four Corners Health LLC, is accused of defrauding the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) of over $7 million through a five-year scheme.

The scheme involved submitting approximately 10,000 false claims for home health care services not rendered, including care provided to veterans weeks after their death. Luke’s company, which operated in seven California counties, billed the VA for duplicate services, days when caretakers were absent, and excessive care hours.

As the sole owner and billing representative, Luke actively deceived the VA’s third-party benefits administrator, preventing recovery of the fraudulent payments. He spent the stolen funds lavishly on personal expenses and transferred millions across Asia and Africa.

If convicted, Luke faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. The US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California is leading the investigation, with Assistant US Attorney Calvin Lee prosecuting the case.
