The Nigerian-Slovenia Chamber of Commerce is urging Nigerian businesses to explore opportunities in Slovenia to boost trade and investment. Slovenia offers a promising business environment, being a member of the EU, Schengen Area, and OECD, with a stable economy and low-risk business environment.
Slovenia’s major imports from Nigeria include organic chemicals, agro products like cocoa beans, iron and steel/metal scraps, wood, and mineral fuels/petroleum products. The country is interested in partnering with Nigeria in sectors like machinery/equipment, engineering and construction, agro-allied, pharmaceuticals, mining, ICT, education, renewable energy, and auto/industrial parts.
The Chamber is organizing an export expo to encourage Nigerians to export raw materials needed in Slovenia, such as coal, ginger, coconut, groundnut, and precious stones. Nigerian students can also benefit from Slovenia’s robust education system.
The trade balance between Slovenia and Nigeria is currently not encouraging, with Slovenia’s imports from Nigeria standing at $5.7 million in 2022. The Chamber aims to increase trade volume and create jobs through bilateral relations.
