UK-based Nigerian footballer, Saburi Adeniyi, has sadly passed away after battling a severe brain stem injury. The 31-year-old left winger played for Kings Park Rangers Football Club in Sudbury, England.
Adeniyi was admitted to Queen’s Hospital in Romford, East London, on January 15, 2026, and was placed on life support due to the severity of his injury. Despite efforts to save him, he was medically classified as brain dead, and life support was delayed to allow his family to travel from Nigeria.
The club launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his family, raising over £16,000 to cover emergency visa processing, flights, and accommodation. Sadly, his wife and four-year-old daughter arrived in the UK a day after his passing.
“Saburi was a devoted family man and a valued member of the team. He will always be a King. He will always be loved,” the club stated.
