LATEST NEWS: Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo Libya Chapter: Uniting Igbos in the Diaspora

The Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo worldwide Libya chapter is dedicated to uniting the Igbo community in Libya. Chairman Mr. Remigus Chinedu Ajagwuimo, from Oru-east L.G.A, Imo state, shared the organization’s vision and challenges in an exclusive interview with Nigerians In Diaspora Media (TheNidm).

According to Mr. Remigus, the chapter’s affiliation with Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo worldwide Libya chapter was born out of necessity, as members demanded to know the origin and background of the organization. “Uniting the Igbos living in Libya is crucial, because without having one voice, sometimes it’s difficult for them to access even the embassy,” he explained.

The organization’s primary goal is to contribute significantly to every Igbo person, with their wellbeing being the top priority. However, Mr. Remigus highlighted a major challenge facing the community – repatriating members who fall ill. “Most of the challenges we are facing here is on how to repatriate our people, mainly when they are sick… because here sometimes don’t have enough fund to process it, so it leads some dying here,” he lamented.

Despite these challenges, the chapter remains committed to promoting Igbo culture and traditions. “We have series of ways in promoting our culture and traditions by our end of year cultural events,” Mr. Remigus revealed.

The Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo worldwide Libya chapter’s efforts demonstrate the importance of community and cultural preservation in the diaspora.
