Iran has assured Nigerian citizens living in the country are safe despite escalating tensions in the Middle East following the US-Israel-Iran military standoff.
Ambassador Mahari Raja, Iran’s Ambassador to Nigeria, gave the assurance at a news conference in Abuja, stating that Iran’s response has been defensive measures aimed solely at protecting its sovereign territory and population, in accordance with international law.

The Nigerian government is monitoring developments closely and has issued travel advisories for citizens in Iran and neighboring Gulf countries. The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) is coordinating with relevant authorities to provide information and support to Nigerian citizens residing in the region.
The conflict has led to heightened security measures, with the Nigerian government urging citizens to remain calm, avoid areas near military installations, and follow official guidance. Iran has emphasized its commitment to upholding diplomatic relations and continuing dialogue.
