A Nigerian woman was arrested in Surat, Gujarat, India, on January 23, 2026, with methamphetamine and cocaine worth Rs 2 crore ($218,090 USD). The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted her at the railway station, where she was traveling from Faridabad to Mumbai on the Golden Temple Mail train.

The woman, whose identity hasn’t been disclosed, was found with 903gm of methamphetamine and 50gm of cocaine hidden in multivitamin containers and cornflakes packets. The DRI team conducted a detailed search after she initially denied carrying any contraband.

The narcotics were confiscated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the woman was arrested for further investigation. Authorities are probing the source of the drugs and their intended destination.

This arrest is part of a larger crackdown on transnational drug trafficking in India, with over 50 Nigerians arrested in a major operation in November 2025.
