LATEST NEWS: Nigerian Teen Jailed for Life Over UK Stabbing

A 19-year-old Nigerian, Jackson Uwagboe, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for stabbing 21-year-old Robert Robinson to death in Deptford, London, over a stolen bicycle. Uwagboe, who fled to Nigeria after the crime, was arrested upon his return to the UK and found guilty of murder, robbery, and possession of a bladed article.

The brutal attack, which involved Uwagboe and two accomplices, Ryan Wedderburn and Kirk Harris, resulted in Robinson receiving 12 stab wounds, including defensive injuries. Uwagboe’s claims of self-defense were rejected by the court.

Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, who led the investigation, praised the verdict, saying, “Today’s verdict brings justice for Robert Robinson and his family. Robert was subjected to a brutal and sustained attack by a group of men armed with knives”.

Uwagboe will serve a minimum of 21 years before being eligible for parole. His co-defendant, Eromosele Omoluogbe, 24, was convicted of perverting the course of justice for helping Uwagboe flee to Nigeria and will be sentenced later.
