LATEST NEWS: Nigerian Mom Dies Just Days After Arriving in UK for Son’s Graduation

Oluranti Olufunmilayo Esther Akinyemi, a Nigerian woman, tragically passed away in the UK due to a cardiac arrest, just days after arriving for her son’s graduation ceremony. She arrived in the UK on February 11, 2026, and suffered the cardiac arrest on February 12, dying on February 14 after being on life support for three days.

The incident has left her family devastated, and they’re now seeking help to repatriate her body to Nigeria. A fundraising campaign on JustGiving aims to raise £20,000 to cover repatriation, medical, and funeral expenses. As of February 19, £2,087 had been raised from 97 donors.

Oluranti is survived by three children in the UK, siblings, and extended family in Nigeria. Her family describes the incident as sudden and devastating, and they’re urging people to support them in bringing her home.
