LATEST NEWS: Lagos Unveils Affordable Health Insurance Plans for Diaspora Nigerians

The Lagos State Government has launched two new health insurance plans, Ilera-Eko Waka-Well and Ilera-Eko Home Konnect, targeting Nigerians living abroad and short-term visitors. The plans offer affordable and comprehensive healthcare coverage, addressing a long-standing challenge faced by diasporans.

The Waka-Well plan covers common travel-related illnesses, diagnostics, emergency care, telemedicine, dental and eye services, and local ambulance evacuation, with premiums starting at ₦45,000 for a 90-day stay. The Home Konnect plan allows Nigerians abroad to pay premiums remotely for family members in Lagos, covering consultations, surgeries, physiotherapy, chronic disease management, and annual wellness screenings.

The plans are designed to provide reliable healthcare support for loved ones in Lagos, eliminating the burden of ad-hoc medical remittances. With over 20 million Nigerians living abroad, the potential market for these plans is vast.

The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) partnered with private companies, including Pinnacle Global Business Services and Nomad Doc Limited, to promote the plans locally and internationally.

The initiative is expected to boost health outcomes, reduce financial pressure on families, and ensure continuity of care for vulnerable groups in Lagos.
