LATEST NEWS: Justice Cries Out! Nigerian Family Mourns Death of Son in ‘Death Camp’ Job Scam

The family of Obinna Okeadu, a 33-year-old Nigerian engineer from Imo State, is demanding justice and government intervention after his death in a job scam center in Myanmar, near Thailand. Obinna was lured to the center with a promise of a factory job and attractive salary, but upon arrival, his passport and travel documents were seized, and he was forced to work under harsh conditions with unachievable targets.

The family claims Obinna was tortured, beaten, and injected with substances that led to his death, as alleged by an inmate who sent a secret message to the family. They suspect that Obinna’s organs may have been harvested to recover the investment made on him. The family is yet to receive official confirmation of Obinna’s death or be allowed to see his body.

The family is calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to intervene and investigate the circumstances surrounding Obinna’s death. They also want the government to rescue other Nigerians who are reportedly trapped in the same job scam center. The family has appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Embassy in Thailand to investigate the job-scam syndicate and prevent further recruitment of young Nigerians.

Reports indicate that the job scam center, operating in Myanmar and Cambodia, lures victims with promises of lucrative jobs and high pay. Once in the center, victims are subjected to forced labor, torture, and organ harvesting if they fail to meet targets. Some victims are sold to other centers for hard labor or risky jobs. The center had previously operated in Nigeria but relocated to Southeast Asia after being shut down by authorities.
