🌟Nigerians living outside the country can breathe a sigh of relief! According to the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, foreign-earned income won’t be taxed in Nigeria unless it’s sourced from within the country.
This means that if you’re a Nigerian living abroad and earning income from foreign sources, you won’t have to pay taxes on that income in Nigeria. However, if you’re earning income from sources within Nigeria, you’ll still be required to pay taxes on that income.
The 183-day rule still applies, meaning you’re considered a tax resident if you spend more than 183 days in Nigeria within a 12-month period. But for those living abroad, this new policy could be a welcome relief.
