Ghana has repatriated 68 foreign nationals, including 42 Nigerians, 13 Cameroonians, 7 Beninois, 3 Ivorians, and 3 Burkinabés, for involvement in cybercrime, prostitution, and other offenses. The deportation followed court rulings and was announced by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene on December 18, 2025.
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) praised the collaboration with courts and security agencies, emphasizing its commitment to enforcing immigration laws and protecting vulnerable individuals. This move is part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime and human trafficking, with recent operations rescuing victims and arresting suspects involved in online scams and trafficking.
In recent months, Ghana has intensified its crackdown on cybercrime, with operations like “LIFELINE” rescuing Nigerians trafficked for cyber activities. The GIS has urged citizens to report suspicious activities and advised landlords to conduct thorough background checks on foreign tenants.
