LATEST NEWS: Ghana: 13 Nigerian Nationals Arrested for Prostitution

The New Juaben South Municipal Police Command in Ghana has arrested 13 Nigerian nationals, aged between 15 and 31, on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. The suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged by a victim, a 30-year-old Nigerian national, who claimed she was trafficked from Nigeria to Ghana for prostitution.

The police operation uncovered a brothel facility allegedly operated by a landlord, Omari Gyamfi, where the suspects were residing and engaging in prostitution. A 15-year-old minor was among those arrested and has since been separated for protection. The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court soon.

This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by Ghanaian authorities to combat human trafficking and prostitution. In recent months, several Nigerians have been arrested and prosecuted for human trafficking in Ghana.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to combating human trafficking, protecting children, and enforcing laws without fear or favor. The public is urged to report suspected cases of human trafficking, child abuse, and related criminal activities to the nearest police station.
