The French Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria, with the French Consul General in Lagos, Laurent Flavier, announcing plans to invest in initiatives promoting sustainable development, technology transfer, and economic growth. Speaking at a press conference organized by the Franco-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Flavier assured that France will continue to support Nigeria’s development agenda.
This commitment is backed by a €300 million development partnership aimed at driving growth in key sectors such as healthcare, transportation, renewable energy, agriculture, and human capital development. The partnership focuses on improving healthcare systems, enhancing connectivity, supporting sustainable agriculture, and fostering education, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The French Development Agency (AFD) has pledged long-term support for Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, a reform initiative aimed at stimulating economic growth and sustainability. The AFD will provide funding for key projects, including urban infrastructure development, sustainable agriculture, SME financing, and renewable energy.
These agreements demonstrate the commitment of both countries to foster a strategic relationship, enhance mutual trade, and promote sustainable development. The partnership is expected to create jobs, improve livelihoods, and stimulate economic growth in Nigeria.
