Latest News: FG Centralizes Passport Production, Ends 62-Year-Old Tradition

Nigeria’s Federal Government has ended passport production at multiple centers across the country after 62 years, adopting a centralized system to improve efficiency. This move aims to enhance the quality and security of passport production, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The new system can produce 4,500-5,000 passports daily, meeting demands within four to five hours. The FG aims to reduce processing time to one week through automation and optimization. Centralization enhances uniformity strengthens the integrity of Nigerian passport globally.

The Ministry of Interior has introduced reforms, including contactless passport solutions and home delivery of passports, to streamline passport issuance and improve accessibility. The centralized system is expected to enhance the quality and security of Nigerian passports, providing relief to citizens at home and abroad.
