The Unveiling and Rebranding Nigeria Initiative (URNI) is set to mobilize 17 million Nigerians living abroad to project a positive image of the country and drive national development. This ambitious effort is in collaboration with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), aiming to reshape narratives about Nigeria through cultural diplomacy, youth engagement, and technology-driven platforms.
URNI’s approach includes showcasing Nigeria’s rich culture and talents globally, inspiring patriotism among young Nigerians worldwide, leveraging the expertise and resources of Nigerians abroad, and utilizing community-driven platforms for national rebranding. The initiative is working closely with NiDCOM, led by chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa, to harness diaspora potential. URNI has launched a book celebrating exemplary Nigerians titled “Face of Patriotism”, and a campaign “Nigeria Through My Lens” promoting national identity through storytelling.
Nigerians abroad remits billions annually, supporting development, and diaspora professional share expertise in sectors like healthcare and technology. The Nigerian diaspora promotes culture, music (Afrobeats), and Nollywood globally, contributing to the country’s soft power.
