BREAKING: Nigerian Police Rescue 23 Foreign Nationals from Kidnappers Den in Nasarawa State

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command’s Scorpion Squad conducted a daring rescue operation in Nasarawa State, freeing 23 foreign nationals from an international kidnapping syndicate. The victims, comprising 14 males, 8 females, and 1 child, were lured into Nigeria with promises of lucrative jobs but were instead held captive and subjected to harsh conditions.

The kidnappers, led by Abubakar Jigiba, a notorious transnational criminal with connections in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, and Nigeria, demanded a ransom of N230 million, with each victim’s family being asked for N10 million. The syndicate used WhatsApp and other online platforms to communicate with the families and demand ransom payments.

The police received actionable intelligence about the kidnappers’ hideout in Ado Mararaba, Nasarawa State, and launched a raid on the location around 8 pm on October 22, 2025. The Scorpion Squad successfully rescued the victims, who were found in two fortified apartments, and arrested 14 suspected kidnappers. The victims were trafficked into Nigeria through illegal border routes, and the police are working to track down the principal suspects, Abubakar Jigiba and his brother Sougule Zoubere, who remain at large.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, praised the Scorpion Squad for their bravery and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The rescued victims, except for one who sustained a minor ear injury, were found unhurt and received medical attention as needed.
