The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has denied reports that it issued a statement claiming no Nigerians are stranded in the Middle East due to the ongoing crisis. In a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, NIDCOM clarified that it has actually received calls from Nigerians in Qatar, UAE, and Iran seeking information on evacuation preparations.
The commission confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with relevant agencies to monitor the situation and ensure Nigerians’ safety. The ministry has issued travel advisories and emergency contact numbers for Nigerians in affected countries.
NIDCOM assured Nigerians in the region that the federal government is taking necessary steps to prevent any harm and urged them to follow the ministry’s travel advice and stay informed.
