LATEST NEWS: South Africans Join Nigerians in Court as Suspects Face Murder Charges

Isaac Satlet, a 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver and engineering student, was brutally murdered on February 11, 2026, in Pretoria West, South Africa. Three suspects, Dikeledi Mphela, Goitsione Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, facing charges of premeditated murder and aggravated robbery.

The suspects allegedly ordered an e-hailing service, attacked Satlet, strangled him, and stole his vehicle and phone. The crime was captured on the vehicle’s dashcam and widely circulated on social media, sparking national outrage.

The suspects abandoned their bail applications and will remain in custody until the case is postponed to February 23, 2026, for further investigation. Police are still searching for a fourth suspect.

Satlet’s killing has raised concerns about safety measures for e-hailing drivers and xenophobic violence in South Africa. Protests outside the court called for justice and stronger protections for drivers.
