A Nigerian woman, Damilola Balogun, has passed away at a hospital in the United Kingdom, just five months after giving birth to her baby. Damilola had been experiencing severe migraines and was treated at Walsall Manor Hospital before being transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for surgery due to water on her brain.
The surgery initially seemed successful, but Damilola tragically fell into a coma three days later and was placed on life support. She died on January 1, 2026, after life support was withdrawn.
Damilola leaves behind her husband, three young children (11, 10, and 5 months old), her mother, and grandmother. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the family with funeral expenses and the children’s care.
The community is mourning the loss of Damilola, described as a loving wife, devoted mother, and primary applicant for her family’s skilled worker visa. Her family appeals for financial support to cover funeral costs and care for her children.
