LATEST NEW: 5 Nigerian Inmates in Ghananian Prison Graduated with University Degrees

In a remarkable achievement, five Nigerian inmates have graduated with university degrees from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, while serving their prison sentences. One of the graduates, Edward, was released on October 1, 2025, after serving six years and eight months in prison. He earned a second-class degree in Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Management.

According to Rev. Ebenezer Alabi, Vice Chairman (Foreign Affairs) of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Africa, the inmates’ achievement is a testament to their determination and hard work. Edward reportedly mentored fellow inmates during his time in prison and feels “professionally more equipped” after completing his degree.

The graduates include Edward, Johnson, Francis,Promise, and Ibrahim.

Their story highlights the transformative power of education, even in challenging circumstances. By pursuing higher education, these inmates have demonstrated their commitment to personal growth and rehabilitation.
