A 37-year-old, Andre Wright-Walters, has been arraigned in connection with the murder of James Gbadamosi, a 67-year-old Nigerian national living in the UK. Gbadamosi died on September 5, 2025, after being assaulted on August 24, 2025, in Balham High Road, South London, with life-threatening injuries.
Wright-Walters was initially arrested in August on charges of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a Class A drug. He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrate’ court on August 28 and was granted bail despite the severity of the attack. However, after Gbadamosi succumbed to his injuries, Wright-Walters was rearrested on September 6 and charged with murder. He appeared before Wimbledon Magistrates’ court again on September 8, where the charge was formally read.

A second suspect, a 30-year-old woman, is also under investigation. She was first arrested on August 27 for alleged conspiracy to commit murder. Police confirmed she has since been released on bail while inquiries continue.
The Metropolitan Police are appealing for witnesses and CCTV evidence from Balham High Road around the time of the assault, urging anyone with information to come forward. Gbadamosi’s death has shaken the Nigerian community in London, with calls for swift justice and advocacy group demanding accountability.
The incident has also sparked debate over the UK’s bail system and how it handles violent crime suspects. Neighbors described Gbadamosi as “a gentle and hardworking man,” and there’s hope for uncompromising justice for his family.
